Each summer, we rely on adult volunteers to help create and lead some fabulous programs as Chestnut Ridge. Some serve as a volunteer camp nurse for a week. Others serve as a program instructor, teaching valuable skills to the campers. Some have a passion for the arts, and share their talents as artists or musicians with the summer campers. Others prefer to help behind the scenes, working on maintenance projects or helping at the Community Farm. To learn more about the value of volunteering, you can also read this article written by our former Director, Rhonda Parker. Some examples of previous volunteer roles include:
- Camp Nurse
- Craftsperson
- Artist
- Fishing instructor
- Ropes Course facilitator
- Musician
- Maintenance projects
- General maintenance or landscaping
- Gardener
- Farmhand
- Assisting in the office
- Servicing vehicles
As you can see, opportunities for volunteering abound. If you have a special skill you would like to share this summer, or would just like to offer the gift of your time and service, please contact us to let us know. Volunteers are an integral part of the ministry at Chestnut Ridge. We hope to see you this summer!
Volunteering is so important to us, that we have even integrated volunteering into our summer camp programs. High School aged campers interested in volunteering should check out the Counselor in Training program.
